Senate President Godswill Akpabio has reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to tackling and ultimately ending insecurity across Nigeria, as the administration intensifies security operations nationwide.
Speaking on the ongoing efforts to restore peace and stability, Akpabio highlighted the President’s prioritization of security, noting that Nigerian troops and security agencies are actively intensifying operations against criminal elements, bandits, and insurgents. He assured Nigerians that the Tinubu administration remains steadfast in its resolve to defeat terrorism and criminality.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to securing the freedom of those in captivity, defeating the forces of terror and criminality, and restoring peace to our communities,” Akpabio stated. He called on all Nigerians to support these efforts through unity, prayer, and perseverance until lasting peace is achieved.
The Senate President also commended ongoing legislative initiatives, including proposals to strengthen local defence manufacturing and drone production, as part of broader support for the President’s security agenda. He noted measurable improvements, such as the end of large-scale insurgent occupations and widespread bomb attacks in previous years, while acknowledging that more work remains to secure vulnerable areas.
Akpabio urged patience and collective action, stressing that the government is working diligently to address both security challenges and associated economic hardships. “Nigeria will overcome insecurity and hardship,” he affirmed, drawing parallels to the nation’s resilience through past crises.
This assurance comes as the National Assembly continues to fast-track security-related reforms and increased funding for security infrastructure to bolster the executive’s efforts.
