Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde on Monday expressed strong confidence that the Allied People’s Movement (APM) would secure a landslide victory in the 2027 general elections, declaring that God, the people of Oyo State and Nigerians at large are firmly behind the party.
Makinde spoke at the Boye Nation/JAF Movement Mega Concert held at the Open Tennis Court of the Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba, Ibadan, where he formally received thousands of defectors from the All Progressives Congress (APC) into the APM.
The defectors, drawn from several local government areas across Oyo State, were led by Ajiboye Sangogade, popularly known as Boye Nation, a personal assistant and loyalist to former Minister of Power, Chief Adebayo Adelabu.
Addressing the large crowd, the governor, who is the APM presidential candidate, said the influx of APC members was clear evidence that the party’s victory was only a matter of time.
“God has signed off on what we are doing, and that is why it is raining. Today, we are welcoming thousands of APC members into the APM, and this shows that our victory is only a matter of time. We will win massively in all elections in 2027,” Makinde declared.
He urged the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, to concentrate on persuading the people of the state to support him despite the hardship inflicted by his party, rather than attacking the current administration. Makinde advised Alli to focus his energy on facing the APM governorship candidate, Bimbo Adekanmbi.
The governor also recalled President Bola Tinubu’s campaign promise that he should not be re-elected if he failed to resolve the country’s power challenges, using the occasion to highlight the difficulties Nigerians continue to face under the APC-led federal government.
Makinde reaffirmed that the people of Oyo would not allow the state to slide backward, stressing that divine backing and popular support had already sealed the APM’s path to success at all levels of the 2027 elections.
