Carla Jeffery, the actress best known for portraying the bubbly cheerleader Bree in Disney’s popular Zombies franchise, has died. She was 33.
Jeffery passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026. Her longtime manager, Carla Alexander of Alexanders Talent Management, confirmed the news in a statement shared on social media on Wednesday. The cause of death has not been disclosed.
“It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our beloved Carla Jeffery, who passed away on September 1, 2026, at just 33 years old,” the statement read. “Carla joined the Alexanders Talent Management family at the age of 12. For more than 20 years, we had the privilege of watching her grow into a beautiful, vibrant, and incredibly talented woman whose radiant smile could light up any room. As Bree in Disney’s hit ZOMBIES franchise, Carla shared her joy, humor, and bright spirit with audiences around the world.”
The statement continued: “Carla was more than a client; she was family. Our hearts are with Carla’s family and loved ones during this devastating time. We respectfully ask that their privacy be honored as they grieve this unimaginable loss. Rest beautifully, Carla. Your light will never be forgotten.”
Born Carla Jaran Jeffery on July 10, 1993, in Houston, Texas, she began her acting career as a child. Her screen debut came in the 2006 comedy Phat Girlz, in which she played the young version of Mo’Nique’s character.
She went on to appear in a range of television roles, including a recurring part as Keysha Black on HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm (seasons 6 and 7), as well as guest spots on Southland, Shake It Up, Good Luck Charlie, iCarly, American Vandal and others.
Jeffery achieved widespread recognition for her role as Bree, the loyal best friend to Addison (Meg Donnelly), in the Disney Channel Original Movie Zombies (2018). She reprised the character in Zombies 2 (2020) and Zombies 3 (2022), and later voiced Bree in the animated series Zombies: The Re-Animated Series.
