Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered a three-day pause in strikes on Kyiv, effective from midnight Saturday, to facilitate the visit of U.S. President Donald Trump’s special envoys, the Kremlin announced today.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed the directive, stating that Putin, as commander-in-chief, “has given the order not to strike Kyiv for three days from midnight tonight.” The measure coincides with the arrival in Moscow of U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, who are scheduled to hold talks with Russian officials before traveling to the Ukrainian capital.
The envoys’ mission forms part of ongoing U.S. efforts to advance discussions aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had earlier proposed a reciprocal temporary halt in airstrikes during the envoys’ visit to support constructive dialogue.
