The Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) has commenced full enforcement of the 2026 parking permit regulations across its operational zones in the state.
The General Manager of LASPA, Adebisi Adelabu, announced this in an official statement, noting that the move marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their operations and obtain the required 2026 parking permits.
Adelabu explained that the extended grace period was provided to give affected customers sufficient time to meet their obligations and comply with the Authority’s requirements. She expressed concern that many customers were yet to obtain their permits despite repeated appeals, reminders, and direct communications from LASPA.
“The commencement of the enforcement marks the end of the prolonged grace period granted to customers to regularise their activities and obtain their 2026 parking permits,” she stated.
LASPA had earlier distributed 2026 Demand Notices to all registered customers, clearly outlining the applicable fees, requirements, and procedures for obtaining the permits.
The General Manager emphasised that the enforcement exercise is not intended to be punitive. Rather, it is a necessary measure to restore order, accountability, and efficiency within Lagos’ parking system, ensure compliance with approved parking regulations, and strengthen the overall management of parking activities across the state.
She warned that customers who default on the 2026 Demand Notices will face severe penalties, including substantial fines and immediate suspension of operations, in accordance with the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law, 2018.
“Valid parking permits and accurate customer records are essential to enable LASPA to effectively plan, monitor, regulate, and manage parking infrastructure and services across the State,” Adelabu added.
She urged all affected customers to immediately regularise their operations and obtain the required parking permits. LASPA personnel remain available to provide assistance and guidance, including support with the Authority’s online payment and registration portals.
