The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has assured residents that several ongoing road projects across Abuja will be completed and delivered by December 2026. He described the completed roads as a Christmas gift from President Bola Tinubu to the people of the FCT.
Wike made the commitment on Tuesday after inspecting construction works on Arterial Road N1 from Wuye to Ring Road II, the Tungan Madaki to Zuba Road, and the Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini Road linking to the Kubwa Expressway.
The minister expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work by the contractors. He noted that the projects would transform the economies of the affected communities and improve the daily lives of residents.
“We have promised the residents that this will be their Christmas gift by Mr President as part of their Christmas gift so that they’ll go back home and enjoy their Christmas celebration,” Wike said. “You can imagine the happiness of those who stay here. You know that with these roads the economy of the affected communities will change.”
While addressing residents of Tungan Shanu village along the Tungan Madaki to Zuba Road corridor, the minister reiterated the December target. He stated, “We will push the contractor to deliver the road by December so that you’ll be happy. That is what the President is doing for you. The president said this road will be a Christmas gift for all of you.”
Wike also used the occasion to urge residents to support President Tinubu and Philip Aduda in the 2027 elections.
