President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to the nation’s capital, Abuja, following a productive official visit to China and a brief stopover in the United Kingdom. The President arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at approximately 10:40 PM on Sunday, where he was warmly received by top government officials, including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.
President Tinubu’s trip commenced on August 29, 2024, when he departed for Beijing. His official engagements in China began on September 2 with a significant meeting with President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People. The discussions between the two leaders culminated in the signing of five key Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation across various sectors.
During his time in China, President Tinubu also attended the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), where he emphasized the importance of multilateralism and international cooperation for global peace. He concluded his visit by engaging with members of the Nigerian diaspora in China, discussing ongoing reforms in Nigeria aimed at improving infrastructure and public services.
Following his engagements in China, President Tinubu traveled to London for discussions with King Charles III focused on climate change initiatives. This visit underscores Nigeria's commitment to addressing global environmental challenges through collaborative efforts.
This trip marks President Tinubu's 24th foreign destination since taking office over 16 months ago, reflecting his administration's proactive approach to international diplomacy and economic partnerships.
