A devastating fire broke out on Saturday night at the renowned Kantin Kwari textile market in Kano, destroying numerous shops and causing significant losses for traders. The inferno, which started around 7 p.m.
The Kano State Fire Service, along with the Federal Fire Service and private companies, responded promptly to the emergency.
Balarabe Tatari, Chairman of the Traders’ Association, expressed his gratitude for the rapid response but emphasized the need for improved infrastructure within the market. “The congestion and blocked access roads significantly delayed the firefighting efforts.
The Kano State Fire Service is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
