The Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has provided clarification on the accommodation of convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, within its facilities. This comes amidst an ongoing investigation into allegations of bribery and preferential treatment.
Deputy Controller of Corrections, Abubakar Umar, explained that Bobrisky’s physical features played a significant role in determining his placement within the correctional facility. “Upon admission, every inmate undergoes a comprehensive assessment to determine security risks, needs, and responsivity issues.
The NCoS emphasized its commitment to adhering to human rights principles and ensuring the safety and rehabilitation of all inmates.
In addition to addressing the accommodation process, the NCoS acknowledged the ongoing investigation into allegations that Bobrisky received preferential treatment and was housed in a private cell.
The investigation aims to uncover any violations of standard operating procedures and ensure accountability within the service.
