Culinary powerhouse and Guinness World Record holder Hilda Baci is once again setting her sights on history. On September 12, 2025, the celebrated Nigerian chef will attempt to cook the largest pot of Jollof rice ever recorded, in what promises to be a vibrant celebration of West African cuisine, culture, and community.
Following her globally acclaimed Cook-a-thon feat in 2023, which earned her a place in the Guinness World Records for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, Hilda is now turning her focus to one of West Africa’s most beloved dishes — Jollof rice. The event, dubbed “Jollof MegaPot Challenge”, will take place in Lagos and is expected to draw thousands of food lovers, cultural enthusiasts, and supporters from across the continent.
“Jollof rice is more than just a dish — it’s a symbol of unity, pride, and flavor across West Africa,” said Hilda Baci. “This challenge is my way of celebrating our culinary heritage and showing the world the richness of Nigerian cuisine.”
The event will also feature live music, guest chefs, food vendors, and interactive cooking sessions, making it a full-day festival of flavor and fun. Portions of the Jollof rice will be distributed to local communities and charitable organizations, reinforcing Hilda’s commitment to using food as a force for good.
Hilda’s team is working closely with culinary engineers, nutritionists, and Guinness World Records officials to ensure the attempt meets all technical and safety standards. The pot itself — custom-built for the occasion — will be unveiled in early September.
