Former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu, has made bold predictions ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 presidential elections, asserting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure a significant share of votes from the South-East region—traditionally seen as a stronghold for opposition candidates.

In a recent interview on Arise Television, Shittu expressed confidence in the growing support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the region, citing the influence of prominent figures such as Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Minister of Works Dave Umahi. “If you know the amount of votes that will be coming from even the South-East for APC, you’ll be shocked,” Shittu stated.

Addressing the political relevance of Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Shittu dismissed concerns about Obi’s enduring influence. “It doesn’t matter,” he said. “What is important is for Tinubu to win. Even if to win by 10 votes, I can assure you that Bola Ahmed Tinubu is going to win.”

Shittu acknowledged the economic challenges facing Nigerians but maintained that Tinubu’s current policies would yield long-term benefits. “Nigerians are not finding it easy. But I want to say this with authority and sincerity: a lot of the initiatives of Tinubu now, Nigerians will come to thank him sooner than later,” he added.
