In a heartfelt ceremony held at the Kebbi State Police Command Headquarters, the Nigeria Police Force has disbursed a total of ₦33,816,610.97 to the families of 50 police officers who died in active service. The initiative is part of the Group Life Assurance and Inspector-General of Police Family Welfare Schemes, designed to support the loved ones of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, presided over the presentation, commending the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for his unwavering dedication to the welfare of police personnel and their families. CP Sani described the gesture as a reflection of the Force’s commitment to justice, compassion, and institutional support.
“This is not just financial assistance. It is a symbol of our enduring respect for those who gave their lives in service to Nigeria,” CP Sani stated during the event.
The beneficiaries, comprising widows, children, and dependents of the deceased officers, received individual cheques and were encouraged to use the funds to improve their livelihoods and honor the legacy of their loved ones.
The Group Life Assurance and Family Welfare Schemes are part of broader reforms initiated by IGP Egbetokun to enhance morale, performance, and the overall well-being of officers across the country. These programs ensure that families of fallen officers are not left behind and continue to receive institutional support.
