In a bold move to boost regional connectivity and economic development, the Bayelsa State Government has officially announced the acquisition of two aircraft to kickstart commercial flight operations within and beyond the state.

Governor Douye Diri unveiled the initiative during a press briefing at the Bayelsa International Airport, emphasizing the administration’s commitment to transforming the state into a hub of aviation and commerce. The newly acquired aircraft, tailored for short- to medium-haul routes, are expected to begin operations before the end of the year.

“This marks a new chapter in Bayelsa’s journey toward economic diversification and infrastructural advancement,” said Governor Diri. “Our people deserve access to safe, reliable, and efficient air travel, and this investment will open doors to tourism, trade, and employment.”

The state government is working closely with aviation regulators and private sector partners to ensure full compliance with safety and operational protocols. Ticketing, scheduling, and branding details will be released in the coming weeks.
