The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has denounced the violent attack on its newly inaugurated state secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, which occurred on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. The incident, allegedly carried out by suspected political thugs, involved the burning of the party office, vandalism of property, and physical assaults on party members during the inauguration of executive committees across the state.

ADC governorship hopeful, Apostle Ayodele David-Adesua, issued a statement in response, calling the attack “barbaric” and “a desperate act of political cowardice and intimidation.”

“This attack is not merely against a building, but against the democratic will of Ekiti people who seek freedom from tyranny and misrule,” Adesua declared. “Let it be clear—no amount of destruction or violence can break our resolve to take over power and restore Ekiti to the path of development.”

The ADC leadership has called on security agencies to investigate the incident thoroughly and bring the perpetrators to justice. The party also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and civil society organizations to take note of the growing threats to political pluralism in the lead-up to the 2026 governorship elections.

Despite the setback, Apostle Adesua reaffirmed the party’s commitment to peaceful engagement and grassroots mobilization, stating that the ADC remains undeterred in its mission to offer credible leadership and transformative governance.

“We will not be intimidated. Our movement is built on the hopes of the people, and we will continue to stand firm,” he added.
