The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has officially arrived in Dubai to participate in the prestigious 2025 Asia Pacific Cities Summit and Mayors’ Forum (2025APCS), a global platform for urban innovation, investment, and collaboration.
Wike touched down in Dubai early Monday morning, where he was warmly received by Nigeria’s Consul General in Dubai, Ambassador Zayyanu Ibrahim, alongside senior officials from the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) who had arrived ahead of the summit. His delegation includes key figures such as Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, Acting Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority, and other directors from engineering, development control, legal, and protocol departments.
The 2025APCS, hosted at Expo City Dubai from October 27 to 29, is one of the most diverse gatherings of city leaders, business executives, and young professionals from across the globe. Organized by the Brisbane City Council, the summit aims to foster long-term value for cities and businesses seeking trade and investment opportunities across Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia.
Minister Wike is scheduled to lead a high-level panel discussion on Tuesday, where he will address urban development challenges and opportunities within the FCT. His participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to global urban dialogue and its ambition to position Abuja as a prime destination for international investment and sustainable development partnerships.
Speaking ahead of the summit, Wike emphasized the importance of showcasing Abuja’s potential on the world stage: “This summit offers a strategic opportunity to engage with global city leaders, share our vision for Abuja, and attract meaningful partnerships that will drive infrastructure, innovation, and inclusive growth.”
The 2025APCS is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai. The event will feature sessions on smart infrastructure, sustainability, urban resilience, and economic transformation, aligning with the FCT’s development priorities.
