The Federal Government has announced that the Dangote Group will redeploy workers previously disengaged from its refinery operations to other subsidiaries within the conglomerate, following the resolution of a labour dispute with the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN).
Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, confirmed the development after a series of high-level conciliation meetings involving key stakeholders, including the National Security Adviser, the Ministers of Finance and Petroleum Resources, and the Directors-General of the DSS and NIA.
“The management of Dangote Group shall immediately begin the process of redeploying the disengaged staff to other companies within the Dangote Group, with no loss of pay,” Dr. Dingyadi stated.
The dispute, which began over allegations of mass sackings and replacement of Nigerian workers with foreign nationals, escalated when PENGASSAN halted gas and crude oil supplies to the refinery. The Federal Government intervened to prevent disruptions to energy supply and economic stability.
