The Kebbi State Government has officially denied reports suggesting it hired foreign security agents to combat banditry in the state, reaffirming its confidence in Nigeria’s internal security architecture and local capacity to address criminal threats.
Governor Nasir Idris made the clarification following widespread media speculation that the state had engaged a Chinese security consortium, G-Safety, to assist in tackling banditry and other criminal activities. In a statement released by the Governor’s Office, Idris emphasized that “Kebbi does not require foreign agents to fight bandits”, and that the state remains committed to working with existing Nigerian security agencies to restore peace and protect lives.
Governor Idris stated: “We appreciate global interest in supporting our security efforts, but our fight against banditry is rooted in strengthening local institutions and empowering our communities.”
The government also called on media outlets to verify information before publication, warning against the spread of misinformation that could undermine public trust and security operations.
