The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly stated that the South-West region will stand solidly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, dismissing opposition claims of waning support.
In a strongly worded statement issued by the Lagos APC Publicity Secretary, Mr. Seye Oladejo, the party rebuffed assertions made by supporters of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant Dr. Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, who suggested that the South-West would not re-elect Tinubu. Oladejo described such claims as “political fantasy,” emphasizing that Tinubu remains the region’s most credible and accomplished leader.
“The South-West will not abandon its own for a project of theatrical ambition without substance,” Oladejo declared, adding that President Tinubu’s administration is laying visible and irreversible foundations across key sectors including infrastructure, education, agriculture, security, and fiscal reforms.
The Lagos APC criticized Olawepo-Hashim’s political credentials, labeling him a “perennial aspirant” lacking the grassroots structure and national appeal necessary to challenge Tinubu. Oladejo argued that the PDP, which he described as “bankrupt of depth in both human and material resources,” cannot mount a serious challenge in 2027.
“Endorsements on photocopied letterheads do not translate to votes,” Oladejo quipped, dismissing opposition rallies as hollow spectacles.
The statement also took aim at attempts to undermine Tinubu’s record, calling them “distasteful and unacceptable.” According to the APC, Nigerians are witnessing tangible progress and will not be swayed by “selective statistics and currency rhetoric” that ignore the strides made under Tinubu’s leadership.
Oladejo concluded by urging voters to prioritize continuity and competence over sentiment and nostalgia. He emphasized that the 2027 elections will be a referendum on delivery and direction, not on recycled political figures.
“In 2027, voters will choose continuity with a president who has delivered direction and results – not the empty spectacle offered by political tourists,” he said.
