In a powerful display of unity and respect, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, and Senate President Godswill Akpabio joined dignitaries and mourners in Pankshin to honor the late Madam Mary Yarte, mother of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, at her funeral ceremony.
The solemn event, held at the family compound in Pankshin Local Government Area, drew an array of political leaders, traditional rulers, and community members who came to pay their last respects to a woman described as “a pillar of strength and virtue.”
President Tinubu, in his tribute, praised Madam Yarte’s legacy of humility, resilience, and devotion to family and community. “Her life was a testament to the values that bind us as Nigerians — faith, fortitude, and service,” he said.
Governor Mutfwang, despite political differences, emphasized the importance of shared humanity and cultural respect. “Today, we stand together not as politicians, but as sons and daughters of this land, united in grief and gratitude,” he remarked.
Senate President Akpabio echoed similar sentiments, commending the APC Chairman for his leadership and expressing condolences on behalf of the National Assembly. “Madam Yarte raised a son who has served this nation with distinction. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched,” Akpabio said.
Dr. Ganduje, visibly moved by the outpouring of support, thanked all attendees for their presence and prayers. “My mother was my first teacher, my guide, and my strength. Her passing is a personal loss, but your presence here today reminds me that I am not alone,” he said.
The funeral ceremony featured Christian hymns, cultural performances, and heartfelt tributes from family members and community leaders. Security was tight, and logistics were coordinated seamlessly to accommodate the high-profile guests.
