As Nigeria commemorates its 65th Independence Anniversary, prominent political figure and advocate for good governance, Barr. Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has called for a renewed commitment to accountable leadership as the cornerstone for genuine national transformation.

In a statement released to mark the occasion, Natasha emphasized that Nigeria’s progress hinges not merely on promises or policies, but on the integrity, transparency, and responsiveness of those entrusted with public office.

“At 65, Nigeria must confront the hard truth: transformation will remain elusive without accountable leadership,” she said. “We need leaders who serve with conscience, who prioritize the people over politics, and who understand that public trust is sacred.”

Natasha, who has long championed inclusive development and anti-corruption reforms, urged citizens to demand higher standards from their leaders and to actively participate in democratic processes. She highlighted the importance of institutional reforms, civic education, and youth empowerment as key drivers of sustainable change.

Her message resonated with many Nigerians, especially young voters and civil society groups, who continue to push for a more transparent and people-centered governance model.
