The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reaffirmed its commitment to holding its upcoming national convention on November 15 in Ibadan, Oyo State, despite recent defections by prominent members. This assurance was delivered by Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who also serves as Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum and head of the Convention’s Media and Publicity Subcommittee.

Speaking during the inauguration of the subcommittee in Abuja, Governor Mohammed dismissed concerns that the wave of defections could derail the party’s plans or weaken its resolve. “We are confident. Please be emboldened. No Jupiter will stop us. No dark forces will succeed over us,” he declared, urging party loyalists to remain steadfast.

The governor acknowledged the departure of several PDP governors and lawmakers, including Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, and the anticipated exit of Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu, among others. However, he described these moves as political cowardice and emphasized that the PDP remains resilient and focused on its long-term goals.

“We’ve seen defections before. This is not new. What matters is our unity, our vision, and our commitment to Nigeria’s future,” Mohammed added.
