In a high profile diplomatic engagement, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu hosted Anders Holch Povlsen, Denmark’s richest man and CEO of Bestseller, at the State House in Abuja. The meeting marks a significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to attract global investment and foster international partnerships in innovation, sustainability, and economic development.

Mr. Povlsen, who also chairs the Bestseller Foundation, was accompanied by the Danish Ambassador to Nigeria, Jens Bach Hansen, and other key stakeholders. The delegation was received by President Tinubu alongside Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila and Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani.

The discussions centered on leveraging Nigeria’s youthful population and dynamic tech ecosystem to drive sustainable development. President Tinubu emphasized his administration’s commitment to creating a conducive environment for foreign direct investment, particularly in sectors such as digital innovation, green energy, and fashion retail.

Anders Povlsen, known for his philanthropic and environmental initiatives through the Bestseller Foundation, expressed keen interest in supporting Nigeria’s development goals. His foundation has a track record of investing in scalable solutions that address poverty, climate change, and education.

During the meeting, Povlsen highlighted Nigeria’s potential as a strategic hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa. He commended the government’s efforts to improve infrastructure and digital access, noting that such reforms are essential for inclusive growth.

President Tinubu reiterated that his administration is focused on delivering results, not personal gain. “I didn’t come to look for money and exploit the situation; I came to work. I asked for the votes, and Nigerians gave them to me,” he stated in a recent address.

He assured the Danish delegation of Nigeria’s readiness to collaborate on impactful projects that align with the country’s development priorities and global sustainability goals.
