The Akwa Ibom State Government proudly announces the resumption of night flight operations at the Victor Attah International Airport following the successful completion of a comprehensive lighting and navigational systems overhaul.

Governor Umo Eno, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, commended the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), the Managing Director/CEO Mr. Uwem Ekanem, and the Board of Ibom Airport Development Company for meeting the September 30 deadline to restore full airfield lighting functionality.

“With the successful calibration and overhaul of the navigational aids and the restoration of the lighting systems, the sunrise-to-sunset restrictions previously imposed have been lifted. Night flight operations, therefore, have been restored with immediate effect,” the statement read.

The governor emphasized that this milestone aligns with the state’s ARISE Agenda, which prioritizes tourism and infrastructure development. The restoration of night operations is expected to boost passenger convenience, enhance airline scheduling flexibility—particularly for Ibom Air—and support the upcoming commissioning of the ARISE Resorts, Nigeria’s premier family-themed destination.

Earlier in July, Governor Eno approved the release of ₦1.194 billion for the airport’s upgrade, underscoring his administration’s commitment to aviation excellence and economic growth.
