In a decisive move to address the escalating security challenges in Nigeria’s North-West region, Directors of the Department of State Services (DSS) from across the geopolitical zone convened in Kaduna today for a high-level strategic conference.

The meeting, hosted at the DSS office complex along Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari Way, brought together senior intelligence officials from Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Jigawa, Sokoto, and Zamfara States, as well as representatives from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Niger, and Plateau States. The session aimed to harmonize intelligence operations and reinforce joint response mechanisms to combat terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, and other emerging threats in the region.

Declaring the conference open, Kaduna State Governor Senator Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Sule Shuaibu (SAN), commended the DSS for its pivotal role in safeguarding national stability. He emphasized the importance of intelligence-led collaboration and inter-agency synergy in dismantling violent networks and restoring peace to affected communities.

“The DSS remains a cornerstone of Nigeria’s internal security architecture,” Governor Sani stated. “This strategic convergence is a testament to the agency’s commitment to proactive intelligence gathering and coordinated action across state boundaries.”

Also in attendance were senior officials from the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and other sister security agencies, reinforcing the multi-agency nature of the initiative.

The DSS reaffirmed its dedication to protecting lives and property, pledging to intensify surveillance, disrupt criminal networks, and support democratic governance through robust intelligence operations.
