The European Union (EU), in partnership with Search for Common Ground (SCG), has officially launched a youth-centered reality show aimed at tackling insecurity and promoting peacebuilding in Nigeria’s North-West region. The initiative, titled The Hustle Reality Show, is designed to empower young people by providing them with platforms to showcase entrepreneurial skills, foster innovation, and contribute to community resilience.
At the unveiling ceremony, EU Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, emphasized the importance of youth empowerment in addressing the root causes of insecurity. He noted that the program will serve as a creative avenue to engage young people, reduce vulnerability to violence, and strengthen social cohesion across conflict affected states.
The Hustle Reality Show will feature contestants from Katsina, Zamfara, and Sokoto States, who will participate in business challenges that highlight resilience, creativity, and community impact. By combining entertainment with entrepreneurship, the project seeks to inspire constructive livelihoods and provide alternatives to instability.
The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Ministry of Youth Development, expressed strong support for the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention to rebuild trust and create opportunities for young people in regions most affected by insecurity.
The EU and SCG reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Nigeria’s peacebuilding efforts through innovative approaches that place young people at the center of solutions. The Hustle Reality Show is expected to run for two years, with the goal of creating sustainable businesses that contribute to peace and prosperity in the North-West.
