The Federal Government of Nigeria has officially launched a nationwide online learning initiative designed to provide secondary school students with access to quality education through digital platforms.

This program, unveiled by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, represents a major step toward modernizing Nigeria’s educational system and bridging learning gaps across the country.

The online classes will be hosted on a government-approved digital portal and mobile application, offering interactive lessons in core subjects such as Mathematics, English, Sciences, and Social Studies.

The initiative also includes live-streamed lectures, recorded sessions, and digital learning materials to ensure that students in both urban and rural areas can benefit regardless of location.

Speaking at the launch, the Minister of Education emphasized that the program is part of the Federal Government’s broader vision to leverage technology in expanding access to education.

He noted that the online classes will complement traditional classroom learning, provide continuity during disruptions, and prepare students for a future driven by digital skills.

The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy highlighted that the platform is designed with user-friendly features, low data consumption, and offline accessibility options to accommodate students with limited internet connectivity. Partnerships with local telecom providers have also been secured to offer subsidized data packages for students and teachers.

The Federal Government reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring inclusivity by providing digital devices to underserved schools and training teachers nationwide on the use of online learning tools. This initiative is expected to enhance learning outcomes, reduce educational inequality, and position Nigeria as a leader in digital education across Africa.

The nationwide rollout begins immediately, with secondary schools encouraged to integrate the online classes into their academic schedules. The Federal Government calls on parents, teachers, and stakeholders to support the program and ensure its success in shaping the future of Nigerian education.
