The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has announced a major breakthrough in its ongoing war against drug trafficking and abuse, with the arrest of 230 suspects and the seizure of large quantities of illicit substances in Kano State.
According to the NDLEA State Commander, the operation was carried out over the past weeks across several hotspots in the Kano metropolis and surrounding local government areas. The raids targeted notorious drug dens and distribution networks, leading to the dismantling of multiple syndicates involved in the trafficking of narcotics.
Recovered items include cannabis sativa, psychotropic substances, and other illicit drugs intended for distribution within the state and beyond. The Commander noted that the arrests comprised both dealers and couriers, underscoring the agency’s determination to cut off supply chains and reduce the availability of harmful substances in communities.
The NDLEA emphasized that the operation reflects its renewed commitment to safeguarding public health and security, while also warning that anyone involved in drug-related activities will face the full weight of the law. The agency assured that all suspects are currently undergoing investigation and will be prosecuted accordingly.
In his remarks, the Commander commended the support of community leaders and residents who provided intelligence that aided the success of the operation. He urged the public to remain vigilant and continue to collaborate with the NDLEA in exposing drug traffickers and users who pose a threat to society.
