The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has been thrown into mourning following the death of a distinguished Senator Okey Ezea of Enugu North, who passed away in the United Kingdom after a brief illness.

The late lawmaker was a respected voice in the National Assembly, known for his dedication to legislative duties and his unwavering commitment to the welfare of his constituents. His passing marks a profound loss not only to the people of Enugu State but also to the entire nation, as he was widely regarded as a bridge-builder and advocate for unity.

In a statement issued by the Senate leadership, colleagues expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing him as a patriotic Nigerian whose contributions to national development will be remembered for years to come. The Senate has also extended heartfelt condolences to his family, the government and people of Enugu State, and all Nigerians who mourn this tragic departure.

Plans are underway to honor his memory, with the Senate expected to observe moments of silence and pay tributes during its next plenary session.
