Nigeria’s Vice President Kashim Shettima has arrived in Addis Ababa to participate in the African Union–European Union (AU-EU) Summit, a high-level gathering aimed at strengthening political, economic, and security cooperation between the two continents.
Shettima’s arrival underscores Nigeria’s commitment to advancing dialogue on shared challenges, including trade relations, migration, climate change, and peacekeeping efforts. The summit brings together heads of state, government officials, and representatives from both unions to deliberate on strategies that will foster sustainable development and deepen intercontinental partnerships.
During the summit, Vice President Shettima is expected to engage in bilateral meetings with European leaders and African counterparts, focusing on investment opportunities, digital transformation, and collaborative approaches to regional security. His participation highlights Nigeria’s role as a key stakeholder in shaping Africa’s future within the global arena.
The AU-EU Summit serves as a platform for reinforcing mutual interests and addressing pressing global issues through collective action. Nigeria’s delegation, led by Shettima, is anticipated to contribute significantly to discussions that will define the next phase of Africa–Europe relations.
The summit will continue over the coming days, with outcomes expected to include joint declarations and frameworks for cooperation across critical sectors.
