In a dramatic escalation of internal tensions within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the faction loyal to Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has announced emergency meetings of the party’s Board of Trustees (BoT) and National Executive Committee (NEC) to be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja.
The announcement, issued by Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Wike-aligned bloc, and shared via the media aide to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, emphasized that the meetings are “critical” and will address urgent matters concerning the party’s future direction and leadership structure.
The emergency meetings come just days after the PDP’s 2025 National Convention in Ibadan, where several prominent figures including Wike, Anyanwu, Ayodele Fayose, Kamaldeen Ajibade, and Austin Nwachukwu were expelled for alleged anti-party activities.
Sources within the faction suggest that the meetings may result in retaliatory decisions, including punitive measures against rival party members and a possible restructuring of leadership roles. The BoT session is expected to be chaired by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, while the NEC meeting will be presided over by Abdulrahman Mohammed, the faction’s appointed national chairman.
The PDP National Secretariat, which had been sealed by security operatives earlier this month, is reportedly being reopened to accommodate the meetings.
