Global hip-hop icon and Grammy-nominated artist Nicki Minaj is set to speak at a high-level United Nations event in New York this Tuesday, where she will spotlight the alleged persecution and violence against Christians in Nigeria.

Minaj, born Onika Maraj Petty, will appear alongside United States Ambassador to the UN, Michael Waltz, and Alex Bruesewitz, senior adviser to President Donald Trump and organizer of the event. The gathering aims to raise international awareness about what some have described as a “Christian genocide” in parts of Nigeria, marked by killings, abductions, and targeted attacks on faith communities.

Ambassador Waltz praised Minaj’s involvement, stating, “Nicki Minaj is not only arguably the greatest female recording artist, but also a principled individual who refuses to remain silent in the face of injustice.” He commended her for using her global platform to amplify the voices of those affected by religious violence.

In response, Minaj expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity, saying, “I am so grateful to be entrusted with an opportunity of this magnitude. It means more than you know. Barbz & I will never stand down in the face of injustice.”

The event, convened by Bruesewitz, will bring together diplomats, faith leaders, and celebrity advocates to discuss the humanitarian implications of religious persecution and explore actionable steps for global intervention.

Minaj’s participation marks a rare crossover of pop culture and international diplomacy, underscoring the growing role of artists in global advocacy. Her remarks are expected to draw significant attention from both media and policy circles.
