In a major development for Nigeria’s energy market, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a significant reduction in its petrol price, lowering the ex-depot (gantry) rate of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to ₦699 per litre. This latest adjustment marks a substantial decrease from the previous price of ₦828 per litre, representing a ₦129 reduction and a roughly 15.6% cut in price.

The new pricing took effect on December 11, 2025, and is expected to influence retail fuel costs across the country as marketers align with the updated ex-depot rate. This marks the 20th price revision by the refinery this year, highlighting its ongoing effort to respond to market dynamics.

According to industry sources, the price reduction underscores Dangote Refinery’s commitment to maintaining reasonable and competitive domestic fuel prices, even amidst global oil market volatility and operational challenges such as cross-border smuggling.

The decision has elicited optimism among consumers and businesses alike, as lower petrol costs are anticipated to ease transportation and logistics expenses, offering some relief to households and commercial operators grappling with inflationary pressures.

Dangote Petroleum Refinery remains focused on bolstering Nigeria’s energy independence by increasing local refining capacity and reducing reliance on imported fuel products. Further announcements and guidance for downstream partners will follow as the market adapts to the new price structure.
