Super Eagles striker and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen has been officially crowned Sportsman of the Year at the prestigious GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards 2025, marking a historic milestone as the first Nigerian to receive the honor.

The award recognizes Osimhen’s extraordinary impact on Turkish football, where he has quickly established himself as a dominant force since joining Galatasaray. Last season, Osimhen delivered a remarkable 37 goals and 7 assists across all competitions, propelling the “Yellow and Reds” to domestic triumph and cementing his reputation as one of Europe’s most lethal strikers. His prolific form has continued into the current campaign, with 11 goals in just 14 appearances, further solidifying his status as a fan favorite and league icon.

Speaking at the ceremony in Istanbul, Osimhen expressed heartfelt gratitude: “I want to say a big thank you to GQ. I can’t forget my Galatasaray family. This means so much to me and my family. I appreciate everyone who has supported me up to this hour. I will continue to do my best for my family, for Galatasaray, and for fans all over the world.”

The GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards celebrate outstanding achievers across entertainment, culture, and sports. Alongside Osimhen, other honorees included Turkish actor Aras Aydın (International Achiever of the Year), actress Sinem Ünsal (Woman of the Year), and British-Turkish singer-songwriter Edis.

Osimhen’s recognition underscores not only his seamless transition from Napoli to Galatasaray secured in a record-breaking €75 million transfer but also his ability to inspire fans and elevate the Turkish Super Lig on the global stage.
