President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the establishment of a new Nigerian Army depot in Ebonyi State as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and improve rapid response to security challenges in the South-East region.
The approval underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to enhancing national security architecture and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the country. The new army depot is expected to improve logistics, troop deployment, and operational efficiency for security operations within Ebonyi State and neighbouring areas.
According to officials, the facility will serve as a strategic logistics and operational hub, enabling faster response to security threats and better coordination among security agencies. It is also expected to contribute to peace and stability in the region.
President Tinubu reiterated that security remains a top priority of his administration, stressing that proactive measures are necessary to address emerging threats and maintain law and order nationwide.
The Ebonyi State Government welcomed the approval, describing it as a major boost to security and economic activity in the state. The project is also expected to create jobs during construction and operation, while strengthening civil-military cooperation in host communities.
