A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chinedu Obigwe, has publicly endorsed Governor Chukwuma Soludo's decisive actions to eradicate the longstanding Monday sit-at-home order that has plagued the Southeast region.
Obigwe, who serves as the National Coordinator of APGA Media Warriors, praised the governor's recent directive to shut down Onitsha Main Market for one week as a bold and necessary step to restore economic vitality and normalcy.
The Monday sit-at-home, originally linked to calls for the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has inflicted severe economic damage on Anambra and neighboring states, crippling businesses, markets, and daily life.
Governor Soludo, during a surprise visit to evaluate compliance with his anti-sit-at-home orders, emphasized that there is no turning back from this initiative, warning of sanctions for non-compliance, including potential shop revocations and market recertifications.
In his statement, Obigwe urged residents and stakeholders to rally behind Soludo, noting that even Nnamdi Kanu does not support the continuation of the sit-at-home.
"Governor Soludo should be commended for taking bold steps to end Monday’s sit-at-home menace, as it has dealt a heavy blow on the economy of the zone," Obigwe said. He highlighted Soludo's ongoing advocacy for Kanu's release, positioning the governor as a key figure in seeking peaceful resolutions while prioritizing the state's development.
This endorsement comes amid broader efforts by the Anambra State Government to deploy security measures and encourage full operations in markets, schools, and public institutions on Mondays.
Obigwe called on all people of goodwill to support these policies, stating, "Let us say no to Monday sit-at-home to enable Soludo to do more for us."
