The Abia State Government today warned landlords in Umuahia to repair and improve their buildings within four weeks. If they fail to do so, they will face strict actions from the government.

The government noticed that many buildings in the state capital look old and need basic upkeep. These buildings harm the city's appearance and may pose health risks. Landlords must act now to fix this issue.

Prince Okezie Kanu, the Commissioner for Health, said, “The State Government has observed with dismay that many landlords have not carried out routine maintenance or facelifts to their buildings for years. Failure to comply will result in statutory closure orders and prosecution in line with Sections 115, 118, and 126 of the Public Health Act.”

This warning aims to make Umuahia cleaner and safer for everyone. The government wants landlords to take pride in their properties and help build a better city. Landlords should start repairs right away. The government will check buildings after four weeks and take action against those who ignore the notice.
