Former Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose today emphasized that President Bola Tinubu will not forsake Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike in favor of Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara. Fayose highlighted Wike's significant political value to the President during an interview that has sparked widespread discussion.

Fayose expressed shock over the escalating feud between Wike and Fubara. He recalled advising Fubara against disloyalty to his predecessor. "I never expected this fallout," Fayose stated. "Wike handpicked Fubara, and now the betrayal threatens stability in Rivers State."

The crisis erupted in 2023 when tensions arose over political control. Lawmakers aligned with Wike attempted to impeach Fubara, leading to factional divisions. President Tinubu intervened multiple times to mediate, but Fayose insists the President's loyalty lies with Wike due to his alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Furthermore, Fayose questioned Fubara's claim to being the "001" leader of Rivers State. He drew parallels to Lagos politics, asking if Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu could make similar assertions independently. "Respect your benefactor," Fayose advised, stressing the importance of political mentorship.

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Fayose doubted that either Wike or Fubara could secure Rivers for Tinubu without controversy. He called for unity to avoid rigging allegations and ensure grassroots support. "Rivers are complex, no one can deliver it alone," he added.

Fayose's comments underscore the broader implications for national politics. As the crisis persists, stakeholders urge dialogue to prevent further instability. President Tinubu's administration continues to prioritize peace in the oil rich state.
