The family of two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has reaffirmed their unwavering support for his anticipated comeback to professional boxing, following a period marked by personal tragedy and emotional recovery.

In an exclusive interview with The PUNCH, Adedamola Joshua, uncle to the 36-year-old Nigerian-British boxer, emphasized that the family fully respects and backs whatever decision Anthony makes regarding his career.

"Whatever he has decided within himself, we will support him fully," Adedamola said. "He makes the full decision, and we have full respect for him, whatever he decides."

The statement comes amid reports that promoter Eddie Hearn has suggested a potential return date as early as July, signaling Joshua's determination to resume his career after stepping away from the ring to process the devastating car accident in late December 2025. The crash, which occurred during a visit to Nigeria, claimed the lives of two close friends traveling with him and left Joshua with minor injuries but profound grief.

Adedamola acknowledged the deep-seated fears that have long accompanied the family's experience of watching Anthony compete at the highest level.

"We are always gripped by fear whenever he steps into the ring," he admitted, reflecting on the emotional toll of seeing him knocked down or in vulnerable moments during fights. "These emotional feelings whenever he's fighting it's too much trauma for us as well."

Despite these concerns, the family remains proud of Anthony's achievements and resilient spirit, choosing to stand by his side as he considers a return to the sport that has defined much of his life.

Anthony Joshua, an Olympic gold medalist and former unified heavyweight champion, has not yet made an official public announcement regarding his plans. His promoter and team continue to prioritize his physical and emotional well-being as preparations for a potential comeback progress.

The Joshua family expressed gratitude for the continued global support from fans, friends, and the boxing community during this challenging time.
