The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), His Excellency, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, CON, has approved the nullification and cancellation of 485 land documents in Abuja. This decisive action follows a comprehensive verification exercise that revealed the documents failed to meet official authenticity standards, with many confirmed to be fake or forged.

The cancellation targets applications submitted for regularization of Area Council land documents. The affected files, spanning various layouts in areas including Bwari, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), and Kuje, have been expunged from the regularisation database maintained by the Departments of Land Administration and the Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS).

A public notice issued by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday, marked as Batch I, stated: “This is to inform the general public, particularly applicants who submitted Area Council land documents for regularisation, that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory has approved the nullification or cancellation of applications that failed the necessary official checks for genuineness and have been confirmed to be fake.”

The rigorous review process was conducted collaboratively by the Department of Land Administration and AGIS to uphold integrity in land administration across the FCT. This measure underscores the FCTA's zero-tolerance policy toward fraud, forgery, and irregularities in land documentation.

Minister Wike remains committed to sanitizing the land sector, ensuring transparency, and protecting genuine allottees and investors in the Federal Capital Territory. The FCTA will continue its ongoing verification and enforcement efforts to safeguard public trust and promote orderly development in Abuja.

Affected applicants are advised to take note of this public notice, as the nullified applications no longer hold any validity in the FCTA's records. Further batches of verifications may follow as the administration intensifies its reforms.
