Atiku's Son Resigns as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State

Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar, the Honourable Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State and first son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, has formally resigned from his position in the administration of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.


In a resignation letter dated March 2, 2026, addressed to His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, through the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar cited deep personal reflection and careful consideration as the basis for his decision. 


He expressed profound gratitude to the Governor for the rare privilege and confidence reposed in him to serve in such a strategic ministry over two successful terms.


During his tenure, Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar contributed significantly to infrastructure development and energy initiatives across Adamawa State, advancing key projects aimed at improving public works and sustainable energy access for residents.


The resignation follows recent political developments in the state, including Governor Fintiri's defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) along with several cabinet members and officials. Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar did not join the defection and has chosen to step down from the cabinet.


Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar emphasized that his decision does not mark the end of his commitment to public service or the development of Adamawa State. 


He remains dedicated to contributing to the progress and well-being of the people in whatever capacity the future may present.


He wished Governor Fintiri and the administration continued success in their efforts to serve the state and its citizens.


Alhaji Adamu Atiku Abubakar is a dedicated public servant and the first son of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar. He has served with distinction as Commissioner for Works and Energy Development in Adamawa State.
