The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) is pleased to announce a further extension of its Student Loan Application Portal to accommodate the overwhelming nationwide demand and ensure that more eligible students can benefit from this transformative initiative.
This latest extension follows an earlier adjustment of the application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session from January 31, 2026, to February 27, 2026. In response to continued strong interest, heightened awareness from ongoing sensitization campaigns, and valuable feedback from students, institutions, and stakeholders, NELFUND has approved additional time beyond the previously communicated closure date.
The surge in applications reflects the growing trust in the program and its impact on expanding access to quality higher education across Nigeria. Since its launch, NELFUND has received millions of applications and disbursed substantial funds to support tuition and upkeep for deserving students.
"We are committed to leaving no eligible student behind," said a spokesperson for NELFUND. "The overwhelming response demonstrates the critical need for this support, and we are extending the portal to give every prospective applicant sufficient opportunity to complete their submissions accurately and on time."
Prospective applicants are strongly encouraged to visit the official NELFUND portal at https://nelf.gov.ng to apply or finalize their applications as soon as possible. All required information and supporting documents must be submitted promptly to avoid any delays in processing.
Institutions whose 2025 academic sessions have not yet commenced may submit official requests for consideration, accompanied by their approved academic calendars.
