President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has strongly condemned the recent barbaric and cowardly attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba district, Jos, Plateau State, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The President described the killings of defenceless citizens including the abduction of wedding guests in Kahir village as heartless acts that have no place in any civilised society. He expressed profound condolences to the families of the victims and the affected communities in both states.

“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward. By attacking soft targets in Jos, their objective is not only to cause harm but also to trigger a spiral of reprisal attacks and further bloodletting,” President Tinubu stated.

He assured Nigerians that the perpetrators of these heinous crimes will not go unpunished and will be brought to justice. The President has directed all security and intelligence agencies to intensify efforts to track down those responsible, rescue any abductees, and act decisively on early warning intelligence to prevent further attacks across the country.

President Tinubu also commended the swift responses of the Governors of Plateau and Kaduna States and assured them of full federal support. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to acquiring more sophisticated equipment to enable security agencies to track and smash criminals in real time, wherever they may be.

The President urged citizens to remain calm and avoid actions that could inflame tensions or escalate violence, while calling on security agencies to remain vigilant against those spreading misinformation capable of endangering lives.
