Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara Hails Late Cleric Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai at Service of Songs

Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has paid glowing tribute to the late renowned gospel preacher and evangelist, Rev. (Dr.) Uma Ukpai, describing his contributions to global evangelism and the Christian faith as unparalleled and unmatched.


Governor Fubara, who was represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Port Harcourt, Barr. Sonny Ewule, spoke during a solemn Service of Songs held in honour of the late cleric on Tuesday at the Royal House of Grace International Church in Port Harcourt.


The Governor eulogized Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai as a man who lived a life fully devoted to the service of God and humanity, leaving an indelible impact on Christianity through decades of dedicated evangelism across Nigeria and beyond. He highlighted the cleric's unwavering commitment to spreading the Gospel and transforming lives as a shining example of selfless service.


“Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was not just a preacher; he was a true icon of faith whose legacy will continue to inspire generations,” the Governor stated. “His contributions to global evangelism remain unmatched, and Rivers State will forever cherish the spiritual light he shone in our nation and the world.”


The Service of Songs drew a large gathering of mourners, including church leaders, family members, and admirers of the late evangelist, who is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most respected gospel ministers and founder of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association.


Governor Fubara extended the condolences of the Rivers State Government to the family of the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, the leadership of his ministry, and the entire Christian community, praying for strength and comfort in this time of loss.


The interment of the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai is scheduled for Thursday, March 27, 2026, at Asaga, Ohafia, in Abia State.
