Israeli airstrikes across Lebanon have killed at least 12 people and completely leveled multiple buildings, according to Lebanese officials and local reports, as cross-border hostilities continue to intensify.

The strikes targeted residential areas and infrastructure in southern and other regions of Lebanon, resulting in significant structural destruction. Several multi-story buildings were reported flattened or severely damaged, sending plumes of smoke and debris into the air and complicating rescue efforts. Lebanese health authorities and state media have confirmed the fatalities, which include civilians in affected neighborhoods.

This latest wave of air raids forms part of an ongoing escalation that began earlier in March 2026, following renewed rocket fire and military actions. Lebanese sources indicate that the death toll from Israeli operations since early March now exceeds 800, with hundreds more injured and over 800,000 people displaced from their homes. Rescue teams continue to search rubble in impacted sites for possible survivors.

Lebanese officials have condemned the attacks as disproportionate and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities to prevent further civilian casualties and a wider regional crisis. International observers have expressed concern over the humanitarian impact, including damage to civilian infrastructure and the strain on emergency services.

Israel has stated that its operations target militant positions linked to Hezbollah, aiming to neutralize threats following provocations. However, reports from the ground highlight the heavy toll on residential areas and non-combatants.

The situation remains fluid, with fears of further escalation. Humanitarian organizations are urging all parties to adhere to international law and protect civilian lives. Diplomatic efforts for de-escalation and ceasefire are reportedly underway, led by various international actors.
