Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima has arrived in Gusau, the capital of Zamfara State, to preside over the grand formal reception of Governor Dauda Lawal into the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The high-profile event marks Governor Lawal’s return to the ruling party, which party leaders have described as a significant boost to the APC’s strength in the North-West and a strategic step towards consolidating progressive governance ahead of future elections.
Accompanied by members of the APC National Executive Committee, former governors, and other senior party stakeholders, the Vice President is representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the ceremony. The reception is expected to feature a large turnout of party faithful, supporters, and well-wishers from across the 14 local government areas of the state.
Speaking ahead of the event, Zamfara State APC Chairman, Tukur Danfulani Maikatako, expressed delight at Governor Lawal’s decision to rejoin the APC, calling it a “homecoming” that reflects confidence in the leadership and vision of President Tinubu.
“The Vice President’s visit today underscores the APC’s commitment to unity, development, and improved security in Zamfara State. We are confident that this alliance will accelerate progress in tackling insecurity, boosting agriculture, and delivering good governance to the people,” Maikatako said.
Governor Dauda Lawal is expected to address the gathering, reaffirming his commitment to collaborating with the Federal Government under President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for the overall development of Zamfara State.
The event is being held at a central venue in Gusau, with tight security arrangements in place to ensure a peaceful and successful ceremony.
