President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was unable to personally commission major infrastructure projects in Lagos State today because of urgent national security developments requiring his direct and immediate attention, Special Adviser to the President on Public Communications and Orientation, Mr. Sunday Dare, has said.
The President is currently in Lagos for a scheduled two-day working visit. However, he remained fully engaged in continuous security briefings and high-level consultations following recent security incidents across parts of the country, including Jos, Kaduna and Niger States.
“Yes, the president is in Lagos, and I’m sure beyond the pictures, you know that the president has been busy with state matters,” Dare stated during an interview on Channels Television.
He added: “You will know the last 10 days, right from the attack in Jos, we’ve seen the developments… The president has been busy taking constant briefs and has to prioritise when it comes to state matters, especially security.”
Dare emphasised that President Tinubu has been actively monitoring the situation, working closely with the intelligence community, security agencies and other stakeholders. “Decisions have to be taken in a timely fashion,” he noted.
In the President’s absence, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented him at the event and formally commissioned two landmark projects on his behalf.
The Open-Mende-Ojota Link Bridge Project. The Multi-agency Complex in Alausa, now renamed the Bola Ahmed Administrative Complex. While performing the ceremony, Senate President Akpabio declared: “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”
The projects form part of ongoing infrastructure initiatives by the Lagos State Government aimed at improving mobility, enhancing administrative efficiency and delivering better services to residents.
President Tinubu remains deeply committed to the accelerated development of Lagos State and the entire nation. He continues to balance critical national responsibilities with the delivery of transformative infrastructure projects across Nigeria.
