German luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz has reportedly initiated legal action against Super Eagles and Galatasaray forward Victor Osimhen over an alleged unpaid debt stemming from a 2023 vehicle leasing agreement.
According to reports from Italian media, Mercedes-Benz Financial Services filed a complaint with the Italian Carabinieri (specifically at the Crescenzago station in Milan) claiming that Osimhen failed to complete payments on a luxury hybrid Mercedes GLE leased in 2023 while he was playing for Napoli in Italy’s Serie A. The company further alleges that the vehicle was not returned at the end of the lease period, resulting in an outstanding debt of approximately €90,000, equivalent to around ₦142 million.
The complaint accuses the 27-year-old striker of breaching the terms of the lease contract by not settling the remaining installments and retaining possession of the vehicle.
Osimhen, who currently plays for Turkish club Galatasaray where he is the highest-paid player in the Süper Lig’s history, has yet to issue an official statement through his representatives regarding the allegations. The matter is being described as a contractual dispute that has now escalated into formal proceedings.
Osimhen rose to prominence during his time at Napoli, where he played a key role in the club’s 2022/2023 Scudetto-winning campaign. He has since built a reputation for his athletic prowess on the pitch and his affinity for luxury vehicles, including several high-end models in his collection.
As of the time of this release, neither Mercedes-Benz nor Osimhen’s camp has provided further public comments. The Nigerian international is expected to seek a swift resolution to avoid any distraction from his ongoing club career in Turkey.
This development comes amid Osimhen’s continued high-profile status in world football, where he remains one of Africa’s most recognized talents.
