The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved a series of strategic appointments and tenure renewals across key education sector institutions, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to strengthening governance, standards, and service delivery.

In a statement issued by the Presidency, new chairmen have been appointed for the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE). The appointments are expected to enhance institutional oversight, improve examination integrity, and align technical education frameworks with national workforce development priorities.

Additionally, the President has approved the appointment of a new rector for a federal polytechnic. The move is aimed at strengthening academic leadership, promoting innovation in technical and vocational education, and ensuring that polytechnic graduates are equipped with industry-relevant skills.

In a related development, the tenure of the Director-General of the National Library of Nigeria has been renewed. The renewal underscores the administration’s recognition of ongoing reforms and the need for continuity in modernizing Nigeria’s library system, expanding access to knowledge resources, and advancing digital archiving initiatives.

These decisions form part of a broader effort by the Tinubu administration to reposition the education sector as a driver of national development. By prioritizing competent leadership and institutional stability, the government aims to improve educational outcomes, strengthen regulatory effectiveness, and foster a more competitive human capital base.

The Presidency reiterated its expectation that all appointees will uphold the highest standards of professionalism, transparency, and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
