Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially sworn in Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma as the new Minister of Housing and Urban Development, marking a significant step in the Federal Government’s efforts to reposition Nigeria’s housing sector.

The swearing-in ceremony, held at the State House in Abuja, follows Darma’s recent confirmation by the Senate after a successful screening process. His appointment comes in the wake of a cabinet reshuffle that saw the exit of former minister Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

In his remarks, President Tinubu charged the new minister to bring fresh momentum and strategic reforms to the housing sector, aligning with the administration’s broader development agenda. The President emphasized the importance of addressing Nigeria’s housing deficit, improving urban infrastructure, and expanding access to affordable housing for citizens.

Dr. Darma, in his acceptance, pledged to work collaboratively with stakeholders, including the National Assembly and private sector partners, to implement policies that will enhance housing delivery nationwide. During his Senate screening, he outlined plans focused on institutional strengthening, improved leadership, and innovative solutions to tackle the country’s housing challenges.

The appointment underscores the Federal Government’s commitment to revitalizing the housing and urban development sector as a critical component of economic growth and social stability. Observers note that Darma’s leadership will be pivotal in driving reforms and ensuring effective policy execution in the ministry.

Dr. Darma’s inauguration takes immediate effect as he assumes responsibility for steering the ministry toward achieving sustainable housing development goals across Nigeria.
