Former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has strongly rejected claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that President Bola Tinubu secured nearly 11 million votes in the party’s recent presidential primary.

Atiku described the figures as “fabricated numbers” that do not reflect the political reality on the ground in Nigeria. He made the remarks shortly after casting his vote at the ADC presidential primary held in his Ajiya Ward, Yola, Adamawa State.

“The numbers being announced are not a threat to us in the ADC. The votes allegedly secured by Tinubu were written and fabricated,” Atiku stated. “It is a lie. The figures were merely written.

The APC had claimed that President Tinubu polled approximately 10,999,160 votes in a nationwide direct primary conducted over the weekend, an outcome the ruling party presented as a massive show of support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Atiku, however, maintained that such inflated figures are inconsistent with genuine party membership and voter participation across the country. He expressed confidence that the ADC remains focused, organized, and poised to present a credible alternative to Nigerians in 2027.

“This is not about being demoralized. These are mere numbers with no basis in reality,” he added. “We are building a movement rooted in the aspirations of ordinary Nigerians, not fabricated statistics.”

The former Vice President urged Nigerians to remain vigilant against attempts to manipulate electoral processes through exaggerated claims designed to create a false sense of inevitability.
